A Miami Electrician’s Advice for Staying Cool

As summer approaches, you are probably looking at some great ways to stay cool. If you are lucky, you have a great air conditioning system that keeps the whole house cool. However, for many of us, that is not the case. There are always going to be rooms in your home that do not stay as cool—or perhaps your central air conditioning system is not working. In other case, it is simply not worth it, economically, to run the air conditioner all the time. If this sounds like it could be a possibility for you, follow these tips for stay cool from a Miami electrician, Elcon Electric.

  • Use your ceiling or attic fans as much as possible. Even just moving the air around will make a big difference and help keep your house cooler. If you do not have one of these, the installation process may be cheaper than you think and can cut down your energy bill dramatically.
  • Seal holes and gaps around doors and windows. You may not believe it, but covering up these gaps can keep a significant amount of the hot air out of your house and keep you cooler.
  • Set the thermostat cooler during the day and higher at night. At night, your house will naturally feel cooler anyway, since it is dark and you will not be moving around as much.
  • In the early morning hours, consider opening your windows and utilizing fans—instead of the AC. Early in the day you may be able to lower the temperature a few degrees just by doing this.

As you can see, it is possible to stay cool without spending too much. Contact Elcon Electric, your number one electrician in Miami if you have any further questions. We will be happy to work with you on all your electricity needs.
